Sociology: a social science that is the systematic study of the relationship between people and society. Sociologic perspective: part of your view within yourself and how you deal with it in society. To see and understand the connections between individuals and the broader social contexts. Karl marx: believed that capitalism would be overthrown by communism and oppressed workers would finally be free. Losing social bonds could ruin everything even if we don"t technically need them. We need food, water, etc. we don"t need social bonds but they help us all be happier. Max weber: the protestant ethic and the rationalization of modern life. Jane addams: urban social problems & showing inequality with big city stuff . Multiple theories often give us a more complete picure than any single one. Microlevel analyses: theories that focus on small-scale usually face-to-face, social interaction. Macrolevel analyses: theories that focus on large scale social systems and processes such as the economy, politics and population trends.
