Document Summary

Sensation & perception: sensation stimulation of sensory receptors by environmental stimuli, taking in information from your environment. Video example: hearing ba/fa same sound both times but changes the visual image of his mouth movement the 2nd time. What we see overrides what we hear. Perceptional experience is different from your auditory experience. Points out mis-match between sensation and perception. Ex: real hand, fake hand hitting experiment where someone touches both at the same time and your mind gets confused and you then think the fake hand is yours. Ex: when you"re in a parking lot and the car next to you starts to move, you automatically think you"re the one moving and get scared for a second. Seeing a car being towed backwards and you see the front of it and get scared you"re going the wrong way. Ex: yanney/laurel auditory illusion high frequency word vs. low frequency word which can be interpreted in 2 ways.
