Werth - i"m like a lakers fan, i read his popular stuff . Others perceiving him as black makes him black. I hope by analyzing this i can destroy it . Africa and the diaspora are older than blackness. Blackness as related to whiteness is a newer phenomenon. What whiteness and blackness have to say about you are both important to your identity. Similar to orientalism - colonial imagination created blackness, just like it created. Different though because the other has become to perceive himself as other. Three aspects of blackness - responsible for self, body, and ancestors. The black man wants to be white, the white man slaves to reach a human level . Only way of escaping oppression is becoming white. Black man is an artifact of the white man - white people have constructed the idea of blackness. Can be directly internalized by a black person at the level of affect.
