Energy gets to surface (after a million years) Stephan- bolzman: sun emits 63 000 000 watts per square meter. Insolation combination of incoming solar radiation/ sunlight. Based on the amount emitted by sun and distance from sun to earth, we get a relatively constant amount of solar radiation. Sub solar point is where the sun is coming on the zenith. Solar noon- when the sun is the highest in the sky. Time zone is based on solar noon at specific longitudes central time: 90 degrees west; lubbock: 102 degrees west (late sunrise and sunset). Sun angle varies with latitude and varies over the day. Takes one year to go around the sun.
