EAR-20 Lecture 19: EAR-20 - Day 19
Document Summary
Motor skills in the preschool and later-childhood years to be modified and refined in the preschool and elementary school years. Many fundamental motor skills that the child acquires in the first 2 years of life continue. I. e. between 2 and 6 months after learning to walk, children typically begin to run. In the months and years that follow, they show increasingly effective body and eye-hand or eye-foot coordination- evident in their greater ability to hop and skip, or kick, dribble and catch a ball. With increasing age, children will demonstrate better balance, reflected in their ability to walk greater distances on abeam or to stand on one foot for a longer period of time. Increased speed, shown by running short distances. Motor skills during middle childhood become more efficient and better controlled, involving more complex and coordinated movements, and are exhibited more quickly and in a wider variety of contexts and circumstances.
