Women were seen as empty beings because they did little work. Women had no power or say in their lives. Men were unaware of how women are as humans. Social spheres between men and women in society. Women were only seen as domestic by men. Woolf writes in some sarcastic tones while writing about women and shakespeare. Bishop is seen as a patriarchal figure. Women don"t have the ability to be successful. Just like cat, if women are too curious they too will end up dead. Have consequences if they try and make something of themselves. Heavy sarcasm is used in various passages. Jab at the patriarchy and those who think they understand women. Men write about powerful women, but women themselves cannot be powerful. Believe women remained anon while writing literature to be published. Women were treated like second class citizens. Shown little to no respect by man and other citizens.
