Different types of releases: always comes from the organization that your trying to promote. Publicity release: trying to get news out to the appropriate news outlets. Financial release: having to publish the finances of a company/organization. 3. story- make sure there is a news story. Inverted pyramid: lead (important information at the top, and as you go down it gets less important)not a feature story it is a news release. Lead sentence: is in the news release between 25-30 words. Write the sentence and read it again to see if it works. Make sure you have answered the 5w"s and how. This is what captures the attention of the reader- reporter, editor ect. It is the hook that you need to get in the door with the story. Lead: must convey news, don"t fluff it up, straight to the point. what is it about why should i read it.
