However, that doesn"t mean the supreme court will take the case (they get >4,000 cases requested per year and they only 80 are actually heard). A writ of cert: (important know this for future exams): the court says yes, we will hear your case. For this to happen you only need 4 judges to on the supreme court to say yes, we will/want to hear the case. (even now with the supreme court only having 8 justices the number stays the same).
