You have now completed the purnell"s model for several racial/ethnic populations within your collaborative community. For this journal writing please consider what you have learned about these racial and ethnic populations: identify three pieces of new knowledge you have gained regarding any of the populations that you have studied. I have gained a vast amount of new knowledge through studying these different populations. One of the common threads i saw throughout these populations was that a lot of them had their own versions of healers. There is the curandero in the hispanic and latino cultures, the. Drabarni in the roma culture, and the shaman and medicine men/women in the american. I believe it is very important to be aware of how the cultures look at healing and the people they choose to do so. Another thing i recognized throughout varying cultures was how important the elders are in a population.
