Slide 2: developmental stages in utero **need to know*: pre-embryonic (conception day 14, embryonic (day 15- end of week 8, fetal (after 8 weeks gestation) Slide 4: blastocyst: fluid filled sphere of cells = blastocyst, outer layer placenta (4 red cells on outside, inner cells mass embryo (lighter red/brown cells) Implants on the inner wall of the uterus (day 6-12: inner layer is turning into embryonic disc, will have two layers: outer layer ectoderm. Inner layer: endoderm: called embryonic disc when two layers have separated themselves. Slide 6: blastocyst: during implantation embryonic disc, up until day 15- only two layers, ectoderm, endoderm, at day 16, a third layer will eventually form: mesoderm. Slide 7: embryonic stage (day 15- end of week 8: three germ (primitive) layers need to know, outside layer: ectoderm sensory organs, epidermis and ns, middle layer: mesoderm. Dermis, muscles, skeleton and excretory and circulatory systems: inner layer: endoderm gut, liver, pancreas, respiratory system.
