Obsessions and compulsions are characteristic of obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. Induced obsessive-compulsive disorder- ocd symptoms related to intoxication or withdrawal. It is estimated that one third of persons with ocd experience depression because of ocd"s effects on their lifestyle: many individuals self-medicate to relieve the anxiety produced by obsessive thoughts.
