Suppress inflammation and immune response; replacement therapy for patients with adrenal insufficiency. Unlabeled use: adjunctive management of chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting. Te: used in wide variety of inflammatory, neoplastic and autoimmune diseases; reduces cerebral edema. Endocrine: adrenal suppression, hyperglycemia in persons with diabetes, hypokalemia. Te: prevention of nausea and vomiting with highly emetogenic chemotherapy; prevention and treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting or radiation- related n&v. Take missed doses as soon as remembered and up until next does; do not double dose. Do not drink >2 standard alcoholic drinks/day with this medication. Avoid people w/ known contagious illnesses and report possible infections immediately, especially if exposed to chicken pox or measles. Notify hcp if severe abdominal pain or tarry stools. Orally disintegrating tablets will dissolve on tongue in seconds no need to drink water. Notify hcp if irregular heartbeat, confusion, flushing, rigidity, fever, rash. Usually given iv 15-30 minutes prior to chemotherapy treatment.
