NUR 302 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Patient Participation, Nursing Theory, Conscious Evolution
Document Summary
Understanding the skills, and attitudes for providing patient centered care. Ethical knowing: using ethics and moral comportment to guide nursing practice. All patterns are used in theory building and application. Purposeful and intuitive: purposeful is intent to collect information. Intuitive is at times knowing something without consciously being aware of what or how it is observed. You build patterns of recognition that help you care for other similar patients. Developing intuition or advanced patterns of recognition happens when you engage in reflection on practice. Personal knowing: self-knowing that is shaped by our relationships with others and that also shapes your relationship when caring for others. Without personal knowing therapeutic use of self would not be possible. Personal knowing is the pattern most essential to understanding the meaning of health in terms of individual well being. Concerned with knowing, encountering and actualizing the concrete, individual self. Personal knowing evolves over time as one experiences and reflects.
