Forms of bias against lgbts: homophobia: irrational fear of, aversion to, or discrimination against lgbts, heterosexism: an ideological system that denies, denigrates and stigmatizes non-heterosexual behavior, identify, relationship or community. Lesbian and gay relationships found to be similar to heterosexual relationships. Some differences between lesbian and gay families and heterosexual families. Career: race, ethnicity and socioeconomic issues, discrimination. Conservative estimates are that there are between 1 and 9 million children age 19 years and younger living with same-sex couple parents.
