U. s census bureau provides most of the demographic data about the u. s population. Census form asks questions about each member of the household. Broad categories do not allow for understanding of diversity within group. Racial/ethnic classification schemes have limited unity and application. Imperfect tools does not mean information is invalid or not useful. Approximately 90% of growth in the us population will be accounted for by people or color. Diversity of the us population will increase as the growth of all minority groups steadily outpaces that of whites.
