Our atmosphere is about 20% oxygen: the rest is mostly nitrogen, some people need extra oxygen to support life. If not carefully regulated, it can actually be toxic: can cause blindness if used in too high of concentrations, flammable. Hyperbaric chamber: put people in there who have pressure related issues, gradually increase the pressure for those people until they are functioning properly. Immune system: people with severe stress have been shown to have weaker immune systems, hard to measure stressors since some people find things that are more stressful than others. Firearm deaths & injuries: approx 200,000 nonfatal injuries/year, over 30,000 deaths annually, 19,000 suicides, 11,000 homicides, 600 unintentional fatalities. Aging: our organs age at different rates, low caloric intake is being tested to see if it will broaden life span (most likely will not) (cid:858)so(cid:373)e(cid:859) theories of agi(cid:374)g. Immune failure or incompetence: protein cross linking by glycosylation or oxygen free radicals.
