BME 20100 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Radiography
Document Summary
The more density an object has, the more white it will appear: gas=black (little attenuation, fat=dark gray, fluid/tissue=gray, bone=very light gray, metal=white (most attenuation) Radiographs are described by the way the x-ray beam enters and exits the body. Right lateral recumbency: animal lying on film on right side. Left-right lateral recumbent projection (right lateral recumbent): x-ray enters the left side and exits the right. It is easy to visualize the right lateral recumbent projection with the cranial aspect of the dog being screen left. Left lateral recumbency: animal lysing on film on left side. Right-left lateral recumbent projection (left lateral recumbent): x-ray enters the right side and exits the left. Both left and right lateral projections are viewed with the cranial aspect to your left. Ventrodorsal recumbent projection: x-ray enters ventral and exits dorsal. Dorsoventral recumbent projection: x-ray enters through dorsal and exits ventral. Views are always placed rights side to viewers left.
