Signs of difficult farrowing: exceeding gestation, off feed, straining without delivering, time between births exceeds one hour, foul smelling, brown/gray discharge, redding of eyes, exhaustion, distress. How to examine the birth canal: know basic anatomy, clean rectal and vaginal area, clean and gloved hands, examine birth canal damages, correct if possible.
