Blues is jazz, and true jazz is blues. Many young jazz artists made their own jazz companies to make their own career. Musicians wanted more control of their product: formulated more ideas for participating their own ideas fusion hard bop and modality. Jazz rock fusion was dominant style during the 70s and 80s: widespread popularity. Jazz and rock share similar roots in gospel, work song, and blues. Had a gig as a young trumpet player when billy ecstein visited his high school. Invited by charlie parker to play at minton"s playhouse and be a part of bebop group. 1949-50s released the birth of the cool as a young musician he succumbed to drug addiction: made so many landmarks. 1959 kind of blue album: largest selling album in the history of jazz always foraging ahead. 1965 esp avant garde period: free bop and modal continuation.
