Week 15- cross-cultural psychiatry- tuesday: the problem. Now was i come up in spirit through the flaming sword into the paradise of. All things were new, and all the creation gave another smell unto me than before, beyond what words can utter. I knew nothing but pureness, and innocency, and righteousness the creation was opened to me, and it was showed me how all things had their names given them according to their nature and virtue. Believes himself to be on a mission from god. Overtaken at times by involuntary physical movement (i. e. quaking) By today"s standards, he would likely be classified as having schizoaffective. But is it right to apply these standards: three framings, relativism. There is no universal psychiatric standard and no intellectually respectable means of passing psychiatric judgment across cultures: universalism. There are generalizable ( universal ) criteria according to which individuals may be assessed regardless of culture: clinical-ethnographic position.
