Each stage includes a psychosocial crisis organized by our social role. Specific ego strength" to resolve similar crises. Institutions encouraging new experiences in proper rate and sequence. Each stage reflects a turning point in life. Crisis emerges from readiness and cultural demands. Problem in social development that must be addressed. Healthy development incorporates both positive and negative aspects of crises. Themes of each crisis will arise again in life. Later stages depend on more complex processes. 64 item measure of 8 ego strengths. Theme 1: when things are going well. Theme 2: how you respond to adversity and challenge to that ego strength. Positive scores = displaying strength naturally, and in the face of challenges (resiliency) Behavior modality: to get and give in return. Caregiver provides familiarity and consistency of experience.
