As they currently stand, not like freud who would try to find an early cause. Individuals jump to a conclusion without any evidence to support that conclusions. Someone cancelling a lunch and thinking that person is mad at you. It is illogical because there is no information to support that. Focusing on only one aspect of a situation and ignoring other aspects that are important to the situation. Not getting into a college but not focusing that they only accept. Making a large sweeping conclusion based only on one thing. Thinking you won"t ever be able to get into a college because one college didn"t accept you. Negative events blown out of proportion in terms of importance.
