Document Summary

Section 6: punishment and operant conditioning part 2. Any event or object that following that response weakens it. Effective reinforcement of simple steps in a behavior that lead to a desired more complex or difficult behavior. More early on and then begin to reduce that. If you remove the opportunity for reinforcement you may extinguish the behavior. Voluntary behaviors so motivation needs to be built. Example- if you always buy soda from a machine until one day it takes your money and after two times you stop giving that money. You may try to use the same study techniques for different class"s exams. Generalize behavior of situations towards other similar situations. Animals learn that a response will be reinforced in some context but not others. Some behaviors not being allowed in some situations like the dinner table, discriminate when it is allowed. Reinforcement of texting your boyfriend but at the table there is punishment.
