Until the 1960s, most women did not expect to have careers. In the 2008 families and work report, 49% of men said they provided most or an equal amount of child care. Result: women more likely to feel that choosing in favor of one role means choosing against other. Men less likely to feel this way: most college students expect to have a dual worker lifestyle in future, but typically underestimate the stresses involved. Dual worker households face challenged that need to be recognized and addressed. To what degree are employers adopting family-friendly hr policies: a stressed, conflicted worker is often l a less effective one. I see family guilt as one of the top limiters of success in any area: which gender experiences more guilt in terms of balancing work and family, women. Family friendly hr policies: on site day care, flextime, telecommuting, best-buy - 33% increase in productivity and a 90% reduction in turnover.
