If you want to be successful in life, the first thing you do is pick good parents. What is a family? (3 definitions: 1. A group of two or more people related by birth, marriage, or adoption, and residing together (us bureau of the census) Weaknesses: fails to take into account that family members live in different households sometimes: 2. Composed of individuals that are related by blood, adoption, or marriage regardless of age of if they"re living together. Weaknesses: if parents are divorced and child doesn"t consider the man his father, he is still considered part of the family by definition. Also doesn"t consider family-like relationships such as cohabitation (if a couple lives together and has a child: 3. Two or ore individuals that have close affectionate bonds, have obligations to each other, and whose relationship is understood to be permanent (becoming more popular) Strengths: up to those people to decide whether or not they"re family.
