Priorities from this and second wave were v different. Ultimate goal is to accrue women"s suffrage. Second was reproductive rights and social equality, equal pay. It was thought that women"s suffrage would bring the change in politics too (sort of women"s block) But really it was found they voted just as men did. Movement became harder during the depression typical gender roles were reestablished. Bump in employed females in different to traditional vocation. It wasn"t progressivism but instead a result of war. Willing to work for lower pay than men. It used to be for women who couldn"t afford to only do in-home labor. But then became something for the wealthy" too (middle class) War ended, women replaced again by veterans. Cultural push to return to gender norms after war. Took critique of communism in a different direction. Boyfriend at the time forced her to abandon her phd plans.
