Nation = not the same thing as country but it does overlap. One country can and does contain more than 1 nation. Nationalism becomes a huge mix of language, races, cultures, states, ethnic groups etc. common identity creates a psychological bond and political community. It only gets such a bad rep because it tends to be associated with extreme patriotism, also own nationalism tends to be disregarded where others are seen as wrong/violent/extreme. Nation state: state populated primarily by the people of one nationality. Approaches to the idea of nations: historicist.
