Bacteria: really useful for studying fundamental genetics, can be used in large scale production of treatments. Plants: huge applications in the agricultural industry. Animals: beneficial in studying models of human disease, early stages of drug testing. The most common gmo"s: bacteria, yeast. Have the metabolic machinery to make complex organic molecules. Easily manipulated to produce medically important proteins: example: First animal that was genetically modified: mice, see how it will work in humans.
