Microexpressions a fraction-of-a-second expression that you don"t know that you"re putting on that reveal what you"re really feeling. The seven universal facial expressions: happiness, sadness, fear, anger, surprise, contempt, disgust. Nonverbal behaviour has communicative value: it"s a message that"s expressed by non-linguistic means, the process of intentionally or unintentionally signalling meaning through behaviour. Paralanguage: vocalised sounds that accompany words, which includes variations in pitch, tone and volume; pauses; vocal quality; rhythm, and rate. Cues that include um, uh, like (which expresses unintentionally to the listener that the speaker doesn"t know what they"re talking about: physical appearance. Artefacts (accessories) matter tattoos, piercings, clothing/jewellery. Studying types of nonverbal codes: kinetics body movement.
