Cohabitation: (as a relationship status) means living together not married, but in a romantic relationship. People choose this often for financial reasons (prior to the 1960s) Stats: they have been rising steadily since the 1970s. By early 2000s, 60% of marriages were preceded by cohabitation. 2010: the number of households has risen 10%, just in the last 5 years. Stability: cohabitation as a status is not very stable (cid:523)sometimes it"s good(cid:524) Likeihood of divorce: if a couple cohabited prior to marriage, they had a higher likelihood of divorce compare to a couple who did not cohabit. Relationship to education and income: the less education and income, the more likely to cohabit.
