Energy efficiency technologies for space heating and cooling & biofuel technologies. This increases the demand for air conditioning during warm seasons. For similar reasons, glass panels compromise building insulation and make it harder to keep the warmth in: small energy savings can have a big impact when viewed at the total number of appliances being used worldwide. Lecture 17 biofuel technologies: bioenergy is probably one of the first forms of energy tapped by humans. The use of fire provided both heat and light for early humans: by 3500 bc, charcoal was a common fuel across europe and asia, wood charcoal can also be used to purify water. In addition, butanol can be used directly in gasoline engines without modification: as for 2017, biobutanol is still too costly to produce as an economically viable engine fuel. Most of the biofuel currently consumed in u. s. is corn ethanol. One approach is to use oil feedstocks grown on non-arable land.
