More complex traits are influenced by environmental factors. Motor development: no matter what culture or place, people have similar phases of motor skills in same order. Embryo (embryonic stage): develop tradition life cells. Inner cells of zygote become embryo and out is the placenta. Physical development: brain cells are sculpted by heredity and experience. Birth: neuronal growth spurt and synaptic pruning ( cut back in neurons) 3-6 months: rapid growth of frontal lobe and growth into adolescence and beyond. Frontal lobe does fully develop till you are 23-24 years old. Early childhood: critical period for some skills. You have to be exposed to different things like languages. Critical period: time when you must be exposed to something to learn it. There is only a certain window of time to comprehend sound. If songbirds never heard another bird sing, it couldn"t sing. Children that are underground for most of their life, can"t recognize.
