Not about breaking away, but staying connected. 3/30 chapter 28: i wanted someday not to have to take orders from everybody else. Most of all, i wanted to be free enough to know and do what i wanted to do. I wanted not to shake when i got angry or cry when i got mad. So relatable that i could cry: joan was talking about quitting her job and becoming a bum for a while. I envied her the freedom of choice that allowed her to consider this, knowing she could get another job whenever she wanted one.
