Anna deveare smith: did documentary theatre which is just like verbatim theatre. Uses peoples words and documentary style to say a story thru other people"s words. Wanted to educate audience and tackle difficult issues and advance social change. Used multiple point of views and performed all the acts alone was all the characters herself. Read it on sparknotes again as a recap. Dionysus comes to teach penthesus a lesson, the bacchae or maenads are dionysus"s followers. Semele (mom) had an affair with zeus and then when asked for him to show himself, he appeared as a lightening bolt and killed her, but saved dionysus by stitching him to his thigh. Semele had an affair with a human that"s why she and dionysus died.
