Context- culture, country, stimuli (what motivates you to communicate), internal stimuli (opinion, confidence), external stimuli (environment), communicators must be aware of context to be effective. Sender/encoder- sends message to receiver, must pay attention to context. Message-the info that is exchanged between the sender and receiver, decide what content you want to transfer, can be both intentional and unintentional (fatigue, interest, body lang) Medium- the channel through which the message is communicated. Receiver- interprets and receives reader, must pay attention to context as well. Feedback- shows sender that communication was successful. Communication process- there cannot be a single problem at any step or communication will not be successful. Transmission into signals within the medium- produce message/articulate. Language- a symbol system used to convey meanings and sounds (brain is the house of lang. ) Speech- sound production achieved by movement of vocals. Hearing is the ability to be aware, distinguish, and process certain sounds.
