We"ve seen economic growth under both autocracy and democracy, but autocracy will hit a ceiling and cannot surpass it and grow any more economically, but in democracy there is no ceiling. If you limit peoples rights you will hit a ceiling. Lee hypothesis: lee took over singapore with autocracy and developed singapore and it was very successful. Democracy hurts economic growth of asian countries bc they have different values. They got lucky bc their leader isn"t corrupt. There is a difference between corruption and cryptocracy. Like they might steal but they don"t steal it all they still do good for the people, while africans just take all for themselves and give nothing to the people. In iraq people vote ethnically unlike here where people vote for whoever they identify with. Nothing can get done in iraq in this region. People have to want it-> especially the people in power.
