Sexuality is a broader concept than sex: sex, 2 definitions, the distinction b/w female and male, ability to engage in sexual behaviors, sexuality. Includes sex but encompasses the entire realm of human experience that is connected to sex. Sexuality has changed over time: across species, more sex occurs than is necessary for reproductive purposes, for reproductive purposes, pleasure and fun. Interracial marriage is legal and acceptable: same sex marriage is legal since 2015. Studying sexuality has practical benefits: benefits of studying sexuality: Improve sexual pleasure for you and your partner. Masters and johnson studied the physiology of sexual behaviors: direct observation in lab (wouldn"t be able to do it today, looked at 10,000 completed sexual response cycles, each participant was interviewed. Technology and research: can"t really fake data because the equipment measures different things like blood amount, muscle contraction, engorgement via electrical current, penile strain gauge, vaginal photo plethysmograph, vaginal & rectal myographs.
