SOC-UA 1 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: George Herbert Mead, Daiquiri, The Sociological Imagination
Document Summary
Sociology is about human beings and human beings interacting together. It is about what happens when human beings interact together. This includes their economic relationships, political relationships, etc. This brings about other disciplines, which are all social relations in one form or another, but sociology is the heart of it. Sociological imagination was created by c. wright mills; the mills version of sociology. It is virtually like any kind of associate sociology, the idea that it matters who"s around. We have to look beyond the individual and their own sense of how they got to be where they are in life or in geographical space. We are constantly buffeted by the force of race, gender, and other factors and forces that shape our behavior. Mills was orientated towards problems in society and individual problems. Studied the iq tests that have been given, and discovered that the iq increased.
