Regular attendees: sect. of treasury, chief of staff, attorney general, etc. National security advisor: runs nsc, brings all of it together, oversees large professional staff, advises president, implements president"s decisions and makes sure they"re implemented; traditionally as close to president on fp as anyone in govt. ; appointment does not require approval of senate: generally, are tutors to president before they take office. Pres are generalists have to know a little about everything. Almost every president has team of fp coaches in-line with their views these people generally become national security advisor. Pentagon: houses dept. of defense, responsible for providing armed, military protection of us, largest employer in world.
