Hamilton accused burr of treason and other foul remarks because of rumors such as burr supporting the federalist plans of secession. Burr lost the election and blamed it on hamilton. Hamilton fought in a duel that burr challenged, and in the end hamilton got badly hurt, and died. Burr left new york because of murder charges and settled in the west. All of burr"s opponents chose to believe the rumors about him and felt that he committed treason. He was arrested for treason or a traitor and taken into trial. However, he was acquitted because the chief justice felt that there was limited evidence.
