So as the great depression hurt the country in many places. People needed places where they could eat and survive. Soup kitchens were places that unemployed people went to so that they could eat free food and coffee. A lot of families were turning to the state relief systems so they could find food. So the soup kitchens were really important for the survival of many people. The problem is that the government had problems with the funding with the decline of tax revenues. People became desperate and went to red cross and salvation army kitchens for scraps of food. Some people even looked for food off the garbage or even hoped for leftovers, just so that they could survive: life. Life magazine was photographic magazine that was published in 1936. Life magazine focused more about sports and theaters. It used great photographs to attract attention to the people. Images would include landscapes, projects and entertainment stuff.
