Athenian women were restricted to the home and held no public power. Spartan women were viewed as very important because they raised future warriors and were very patriotic towards sparta. Athenian and spartan war technologies: trireme ships. There was a specific seating pattern on the ships. They were very fast and had a bronze tip (used for ramming) the citizens would row the triremes, since they were paid to fight: athens had a really good navy; sparta had a good army. Persian wars and greece: persian king darius i and the first persian war. Despite being outnumbered by a lot, athens defeated persia: persian king xerxes. Themistocles urged the greeks to build ships, so they did. The powerful navy is what made athens so powerful: trireme ships, battle of salamis. When king xerxes was expecting a defeat, he watched the battle. The battle took place in the bay of salamis.
