Scottish engineer and inventor who invented a two chamber steam engine that powered the machines. This increased the production rate by 3000% or by 30 times the previous rate. Power loom- a mechanised loom that used a line shaft as a power source. A loom was a machine used to weave cloth. This reduced the work needed to produce yarn drastically. That allowed workers to work 8 or more spools at once. Enclosure movement - whereby wealthy landowners enclosed the common lands so they could practice the four-field system. This led to dramatic population growth, fierce demand of consumer goods and it drove many people of their land. Sadler hearings - there were laws that were passed that helped improve the working conditions in factories. Revolution begin in england: at that time britain controlled a large empire which at that time was of the worlds land mass.
