The gracchi brothers gave plebeians more rights. Major change: romans became more loyal to military commanders than to the senate. Since caesar conquered gaul, he was seen as quite powerful. Pompey (another main military commander) saw caesar as a threat. Pompey makes the senate persuade caesar that he should go peacefully and disband his army. Caesar refuses and goes across the rubicon. Senate saw caesar as a threat to their power. There was the conflict between marc antony and octavian. The second triumvirate was them two and some other unimportant guy. Trajan: conquered dacian land; also had marble columns + a forum created. The citizens are happy and support the empire. Virgil, a roman writer, wanted roman writing to be as epic as greek writing. He makes the aenid, a story about the first roman. Virgil wants to link greece and rome so rime can be great just like. Ius natural: laws which all living things had so follow (nature)
