Document Summary

Omics omics = short way of describing a certain study of all dna, rna, etc. instead of individual. In cancer cell there"s more expression of protein, thus the spot of the gel will fluoresce on the gel (yellow) (iii) (a) tells you which proteins are expressed more or less in a cancer sample, doesn"t tell you. Spectrometry (a) used for measuring molecular mass of a peptide fragment combined with genome sequence (b) three parts: (i) Ionization source = source where you transfer a charge to the peptide, ionizing the peptide so it has a charge, creating an ion (ii) mass analyzer = separates ions by mass (iii) using electromagnetic fields. Personal genomics compare genome, proteome etc. of two groups, one with disease another without, you can find out what distinguishes them. Human genome is very similar but also very different.
