Document Summary
Sensation refers to the process by which our sensory receptors & nervous system receive and represent stimuli from our environment. Perception: refers to the process of organizing and interpreting sensory information. In our everyday experiences, sensation and perception blend into one continuous process. Electromagnetic energies strike your eye to allow you to see. Light enters the eye through the cornea then passes through the pupil to a lens that focuses incoming light rays into an image on the retina. The iris is ring of muscle around the pupil which constricts or dilates depending on the amount of light present in the environment. Eye is constantly adapting/adjusting to allow more or less light energy into your eye. Near/farsightedness are problems w the lens focusing. Nearsightedness: distance of light from the distance does not reach the retina. Farsightedness: distant objects are seen clearly, but objects that are close appear to be blurry, focus of light from close objects falls behind the retina.
