Social differentiation: different statuses develop within any group, organization, or society. Fixed, hierarchical systematic inequalities between groups: some people do well because of the social class they are in (we might act, support differently depending on who we are encountering) Intended or unintended consequences of social process and relationship. Different access to resources, power, and perceived social worth. Individuals have access to important societal resources (food, clothing, shelter, education, and health care: based on what we are born into, we have different resources to what we can often reach and accomplish in life. Inequality: cultural beliefs, explanations, justifications to an ideology: functionalist: Inequality is good because it allows for population control. Difference between what people owns and did not own (private property) social conflict due to social inequality. People with power are not just land owners, but leaders (politically, culturally).
