Psalmodist andrew law brought about the idea of american musical distinctiveness through. Law included american compositions rather than european one; he went against the idea of european sacred music being superior. He also publicized his favorite music by simplifying notation. He spent most his life as a traveling singer and was upset he couldn"t make money out of this. Law and his brother william printed tunebooks, motivating american composers to write since. Law avidly expressed how britain and american composers were equal. He changed from focusing on tenor to treble voice to be heard better. Fa, sol, la, fa, sol, la, mi, fa. Learned minor scales too - helped to learn to read/sing from musical notation. He also got rid the staff, just having shapes on page alone.
