Document Summary

Local vasodilation, cannot become too widespread then, (some will be tolerated, some will be encouraged) when your body is then trying to maintain tpr. Jumping on water bed, with 2 holes, when you jump there is an increase of water spirt out = more holes, sudden surge but the pressure will decrease and the flow will decrease. External signals can be local, neural or hormonal (like stated above) The signals work by changing the cytosolic calcium levels in smooth muscles. With higher calcium levels, causing more smooth muscle contractions, lower calcium levels lead to less smooth muscle contraction or relaxation. Increase contraction of smooth muscle more than normal above intrinsic tone, or increase contractile force above basal tone, that leads to vasoconstriction. Changes in bp lead to local changes in blood flow. Local resistance then changes in order to keep local blood flow constant or back to normal. Delta p/ r = 5/5 = 1/1.
