Occurs even without awareness of prior exposure. Subliminal priming (message effects) are usually small and short-lived. Affect simple judgement and emotion or overall arousal. Backward subliminal messaging has no effect whatsoever. Altered: when changes in mental processes are great enough for you or others to notice.
